I did escape (not for me but for my grandchildren's sake) yet New York seems to have followed me to Kever Benjamin. Apart from disliking liberals like the author of the note, Gavin McInness, what can I do now? My time is over, what is done, is irreversible. I can only hope for the best and speculate on TASE.
Ladies, do yourself a favor, escape from New York. It is the worst possible place to find a man. The ones that are available have been spoiled rotten by the unequal distribution of women to men and even if you get one into a semi-normal relationship, he will cheat.But, he concludes, besides being doomed, New York women are tenacious as hell. Tenacious, but doomed. To escape - where? Israel? I am afraid that for a secular Ashkenazi educated women, Israel provides not much of an escape from New York. Yet, the first of my daughters just got married recently. Am I being too pessimistic?
In New York it is perfectly acceptable to be a single male at 43-years-old. These particular men don’t want to settle down with a woman their age. Why would they? That leaves you old and alone with no hopes for continuing the 40,000 years of post Neanderthal humanity that brought you here.

J, it seems to me that pessimism is rather useless. Winston Churchill remarked that since he found no particular advantage in pessimism he tried to always remain optimistic — is this the source of much religious belief? People want eternal life, eternal joy, and eternal reunion with loved ones so they believe in those hopes and such belief helps them survive and reproduce.
Hypothesis: In empirical terms, miracles, immortal souls, and supernatural powers are nonsense, but belief in such things gives people much placebo power and spiritual strength. Pessimism, atheism, cynicism, and self-indulgence probably lead to sterility.

I read somewhere that NYC women in the age range from 25-44 years old have had an average of 20 different sexual partners — many more than in smaller American cities. Is the "I'm OK, you're OK" concept a kind of philosophy of adolescent irresponsibility? Hugh Hefner in Los Angeles, Donald Trump in NYC, and many others seem to have remained perpetual adolescents in family matters. Avoid responsibility, and maximize fun. Los Angeles and NYC seem to be hotbeds of unstable relationships. Where will it end? I fear that the eventual outcome will be people like Osama bin Laden and his 4 wives. Perhaps there should be more social cohesion.

J, why do the Muslim fundamentalists need any converts? I don't know the specifics of the Israeli dating scene but it doesn't strike me as being much like that of NYC. I can't imagine that there is any place on earth where your daughters are more likely to marry a Jewish man. One has already, the rest will surely follow, out of competitiveness if nothing else.

Also, it seems that falling marriage and birth rates are long term challenges for Singapore. Google "the modern-day matchmaker" from the Strait Times. Additionally, I think the U. of Chicago has a reputation for being a workaholic university with a below-average amount of dating. Women are picky about dating and mating, but high IQ, highly educated women might be considerably more so. Are romance and madly falling in love basically poor strategies for family stability? Are there too many economically poor men and also too many rich men, who are extremely amoral and self-indulgent? It that the kind of thing that the Torah warns against?
Well, yes. But there is no guarantee. One can only set the conditions and pump the probabilities.
