The Chinese have dozens of car companies - way too many to survive. No advanced country has more than a handful of automakers, most affiliated with global brands - there are large economies of scale. There will have to be a shakeout and only a few will survive.
My prediction is that the Chinese will be dominant in the age of the electric car. The established brands have no special talent in electronics and the Chinese have proven themselves unbeatable in electronic manufacturing. At the very best, the foreign makers will assemble Chinese made powertrains into their own locally made body shells.

Let's be optimistic. Israel is in the electric car business.
