The terror attack this afternoon must have been quite a shock to the Norwegians. What can I say? Norway and other Scandinavian countries pour about 100 million dollars a year into "freedom flotillas" and "human rights groups".
Witness: "Some of my friends tried to stop him by talking to him. Many people think on the island that it was a test ... comparing it to how it is to live in Gaza. So many people went to him and tried to talk to him, but they were shot immediately." - Adrian Pracon
Comment: This young leftist is convinced that in Gaza, Jewish fanatics appear at any moment and start shooting the presents. And that the thing to do is to approach the killer with a smile and talk to him. These people live in Disneyland, a world of fantasy. I hope they wake up. Condolences to the people of Norway.

Being hard left they will probably see this as occurring becoz they did not help enough, Stockholm syndrome runs rife in those parts. I hear they want to take in more Somalis due to the drought
Precisely the opposite will happen: Norway will increase funding for flotillas and human rights groups. We know this from experience and Larry Auster over at View From The Right, has formulated his "The First Law of Majority-Minority Relations."
The worse any designated minority or alien group behaves in a liberal society, the bigger become the lies of Political Correctness in covering up for that group. Thus, instead of the revelation over the last 14 months of Islam's dangerous and savage character leading (as would happen in a rational world) to a major discrediting of Muslims, or at least to a more skeptical attitude toward them, it has led to their being more favored, more coddled and more protected from criticism than ever before.
When Norway fails to take punitive measures, the terrorists and their sponsors will become ever more aggressive and daring leading to a positive feedback situation. As we know from our knowledge of system theory, positive feedback can lead to an instability (poles in the right half plane).
Speaking of punishments, why doesn't Israel execute terrorists who kill Israeli civilians? A live terrorist invites the abduction of an Israeli sometime in the future for a hostage exchange where a guilty person gets traded for an innocent one. In my opinion, this is beyond stupid. Israel executed Eichmann. How many Jews must someone kill before he gets the noose? If your government won't protect you, then get a new government. Demonstrate, riot if necessary, but do what must be done to protect innocent Jews. If your courts are the problem, then shun the judges. Make them outcasts.
BTW does Israel have gun control? Can a citizen carry a concealed firearm in (say) Tel Aviv?
Police say suspect is a tall, blond ethnic Norwegian. If true, this is the man-bites-dog terrorist attack the media has been waiting for. It will justify current procedures in America for frisking old white ladies.

There is licencing in Israel. Since everybody has to do 3.5 years of military service plus yearly one month service, there is armed people everywhere.
If the terror attack was by right wing crazies, its effect will be to scare Europe even further to the left. Bad, bad, bad.
Perhaps Adrian's friends thought the gunman was there to add a touch of realism to Camp Gaza, with Anders Behring showing up as a trigger-happy Israeli soldier, just in time for a good dressing down.

Hard to find the words to convey the horror of this; probably better to keep quiet until the facts are known, if indeed they ever will be.
Without having any inside lead on this, one is tempted to conjecture the gunman objected in particular to the kind of message that the youth were going to be exposed to on the island. I think it would help us all if we could better learn the agenda in this "camp" on Ukoy; this might provide a bit of a window into his motivation.
I fear this is a foretaste of the coming civil war in Europe. I hope we get to hear this guy in his own words, without spin or censorship.
Nothing can justify what he did, of course, but the authorities in Europe need to wake up and understand that they should stop playing with matches in the dynamite store.
At least that's my first take on this.

I've read some of his comments at the left wing Harry's Place site. What struck me is the muted reaction to this quite obvious right-wing terrorist. Its almost as though it has only now dawned on the leftists, that the right is capable of extreme violence if it so chooses.

Anon,
After the attack I googled the Utoya island and the youth camp and a magazine called Prospect where the main subjects were outlined. Later I could not find the same sites.
According my (evanescent) memory, it was all about equality in the most comprehensive approach, female, immigrant, etc. I was surprised that there was no mention of economic/class issues, after all, they are supposed to be a Marxist party and Marxists in my time were always heavy with Hegel, Marx, Engels, etc. ideology.
This turgid ideology is so passe; now it is sexy to be blatantly disloyal to your own people.
This is how they seduce the young and foolish. And, of course, the ususal dose of anti-Semitism.
